Healthcare Providers

A patient’s wellbeing goes beyond the physician’s office. Empower them to use the tools they need to stay safe and independent on the road with our toolkit.

Law and Public Safety

Care and consideration should be taken as drivers get older. With our toolkit, you can better talk with them about the impacts of aging on their driving.

Should You Request a DMV Medical Review?

If you are concerned a person may be unable to safely drive, you can request a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) medical review. Concerning conditions range from a driver with vision impairments to a driver who is heavily medicated. All reports of impaired drivers must include the following information:

Impaired driver information, such as name, address and date of birth

Specific concerns or reasons for the report with examples

Driver’s physical condition or mental description

Submitter’s name, address and telephone number

We're Working to Keep Older Drivers Safe

While most older drivers may be good drivers, there are physical changes that come with aging. These changes can affect our ability to drive safely. Virginia GrandDriver gives senior Virginians and their families suggestions to improve driving skills and provides resources that will help older drivers compensate for age-related changes. That way they can stay on the road as safely as possible, for as long as possible.
